The Culinary Institute of America enhanced fall semester student move-in procedures by implementing CrowdPass event zones, enabling streamlined check-in as students progressed through multiple stations.

The Challenge

Managing check-in, access control, and tracking checkpoint completion for 900 incoming students who required navigation through six distinct checkpoints including health screening, dormitory key distribution, and dining hall pass issuance. The institution needed efficient monitoring to ensure checkpoint completion and wanted to adopt environmentally sustainable tracking methods versus paper-based systems.

The Solution

Student data was uploaded via Excel spreadsheet into CrowdPass. Dedicated event areas were established corresponding to each checkpoint station. Staff utilized the CrowdPass mobile app to scan student QR codes on move-in day. The system provided real-time checkpoint completion status tracking and generated live lists identifying students who completed each checkpoint.
